Measurement guide
Correct measurements are essential for a made-to-measure product. Follow the guide carefully, record everything in millimetres and contact us before ordering if anything is unclear.
Measure the window opening
Measure the width in three places and the height in three places. Use the smallest width and smallest height.
Enter the finished order dimensions as width × height. Always use millimetres.

Check handles and obstructions
Measure how far the window handle projects from the frame, both from the front and from the side. Handles commonly project between 40mm and 75mm.
The shutter frame must sit far enough forward to clear the handle. The required clearance also depends on the chosen louvre depth.

Measuring bay windows
Measure to the back of the shutter frame. Allow for the amount the chosen louvre projects behind it:
| Louvre depth | Rear projection |
|---|---|
| 63mm | 0mm |
| 76mm | Add 7mm |
| 89mm | Add 12mm |
Most splay-bay corners are approximately 135°, but the corner angle is not required for ordering.

Measure the midpoint
The midpoint is measured from the window cill to the top rail of the window sash. If you do not enter a custom position, the default is 50% of the window height.
This measurement is used for full-height split louvres, midrails, café-style shutters and tier-on-tier shutters.

Still unsure?
Do not guess. Send us photographs of the complete window and any handles or obstructions, or arrange an expert measuring appointment.
